This is a rather powerful novel about domestic violence. I think Quindlen did a fine job in relating this story. The characters were very strong. I must admit though, it had very strong overtones of _Sleeping With The Enemy_ at first. The ending took me by surprise and just didn't exactly seem to match where the beginning and middle were leading. I'm not exactly sure what was so off-putting about it. I guess it seemed rushed... The last chapter just did not line up at all. The opening and middle were riveting though. All in all, I enjoyed it, but did not love it.
