Peace talks are happening between Tortall and Carthak (the villain in book 2). Daine, Alanna, Numair and a few other dignitaries travel south to attend these meetings. The Gods are not happy with Carthak and bad times are coming and once again, Daine will be caught in the middle of it all and the animals will save the day.

I enjoyed this installment and await the last book in the series.
