A very enjoyable work of historical fiction based on fact. It does bring alive the day-to-day life of the Alcott family and the other Transcendentalists in Concord, MA such as Thoreau and Emerson. Many insights into the life and character of Louisa May Alcott. Also reads as an absorbing piece of Civil War fiction. You can read this book on many levels and come away satisfied. I recommend this book to others.
