So what? Who says all heroes have to be the same as long as they reach their destination by the end of the book? Many people say former playboys make the best husbands anyway. I think this is a book that either you hate or love. True, Alexei was raw, vulgar even, and I often could not believe the words that came out of his mouth. At one point I even thought "Someday if I ever have a pig I will name him Alexei". But I enjoyed this book. Many parts of it I read again. I still have it in my handbag ready to read again as time permits me to. I am glad the author had the guts to write such a controversial story and let Alexei be the man he was throughout the story. Only the love of a sweet lady such as Victoria could melt that cynical heart of his and allow all the readers to see that all along, he really was a diamond in the rough.
