Book Two of Justina Robson's Quantum Gravity series. Human-Cyborg agent Lila Black continues in her personal struggle to figure out who she is. Lila is sent on assignment to Demonia to learn all she can about how her Elven lover Zal became part Demon. This book is different from the first in that part of the book features the trials of Lila's friend Malachi and of Zal. The plot and story are interesting. However, the long involved histories and descriptions of events are a little too long and detailed for me. We learn the truth about Hell. Through her own journey through Hell, Lila faces the truth of her previous life, and makes some realizations about her current one. Lila has to decide if she will be the automaton of her creators, or if she will claim a right to self determination. The book is full of metaphors, and life lessons. Pretty good book, if you have the patience to pay attention.
