This book was a tough one to read, emotionally. That's not to say it's bad; I think it's one of the best of the Sookie Stackhouse books. The plot is meaty, there's a multilayered murder mystery, and so much happens in between the characters. You really learn more about the essential character of some of them than ever before. There's also some great Eric and Sookie action; but enjoy that while you can, because things get gut-wrenching by the end.
