I'm a big fan of both "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons," and I also love any suspense thriller that is set in the government, code breaking, etc. This is Dan Brown's first book, and you can certainly tell. Did it have suspense? Kind of. Was it thrilling? I guess. Did I feel like maybe I should have read it in 1998 when it was first written instead of in 2009, when a lot of technological advancements and gadgets are so completely different than what they were in the '90s? You got it.

This is a book that unfortunately is dated, and also has a lot of fairly stereotypical reasons that seem to propel major characters and their actions. If you don't have a cell phone or know how to use the Internet, this may be the book for you to read nowadays. If you do have the cell phone and know what Google Earth is, and definitely what a blog is, then this is not the book to read in 2009.
