There were also blatant typos, but probably publishing errors, or something. It was easy to read, something a 10 year old could get through-but probably too explicit for kids. The story bordered on too cheesy, but thankfully didn't quite reach that point. For me the story was more about a transitional time in the US, between secrets and coverups in the 50's-60's and the honesty of the 70'-80s. About a time when people did things then people looked the other way entering in to a time when people started guarding their families and children more closely. The ghostly quality for me was just like remembering childhood, and made me think of things I might have wished I had done, or not done. I am not really interested in reading any more of her books-I just don't think it is my preferred genre. I haven't seen the movie yet but I imagine its pretty much an enhanced chick flick. I kept thinking back to Jane Eyre(which is mentioned in this book, interestingly) and kind of wanted it to be more like that-somehow.
