Sky, ½ Native American, is looking for someone to kill the man who killed her white preacher-husband. Shes promised her dying husband that she would not kill his murderer; but she decides to find someone who will.
The person she wants is Max Stanhope, the Limey. Hes famous for his ability to hunt down and eliminate evil doers. However, Stanhope is not interested in wreaking justice just now because he has urgent business back in England. His uncle has just died and Stanhope needs to get back and lay his claim as baron. Theres just one small problem, Stanhope needs a wife, as part of the wills requirements.
Since Stanhope has been chasing evil doers instead of a wife, he makes a bargain with Sky: Marry him (marriage of convenience) and help him collect his inheritance in England and then he will return and kill Skys enemy. After some negotiation, they agree.
Unfortunately, when they get to England, Stanhope finds there is an additional stipulation: He needs a child to finally secure his inheritance. He decides not to tell Sky about this latest wrinkle; instead, they return to America to find the murderer of Skys first husband.
Before long, someone is taking pot shots at the couple. Is it Skys enemy or is it someone else? This is a fast-paced yarn that keeps the readers attention to the end. Great reading.
