Book Review of The Winter Hero

The author earns his living cranking out short books and magazine articles, in this case with his brother the history professor. I only read the first nineteen pages on the bus and found that it well conveys the lingering economic problems during the Washington administration. For example, the fact that soldiers in the Continental Army were discharged with promissary notes that were current for far less than face value. Well off merchants and the like bought them up and had profited when Secretary Hamilton devised a way to gradually retire the debt.
The authors cleverly work Mr. Shays into the narrative early on.
There should have been a list of further reading (nonfiction sources).
