Having read a good many of the Charles Rivers books on various subjects, I feel competent to evaluate the quality of this book on Myrna Loy. I was disappointed because the book seemed to recount her films without really getting into the psyche of Myrna Loy. I would like to know how she felt about each of her 4 husbands. What caused them to divorce? How did her family respond to her career in film? After all, she'd promised her father that she would take care of her brother and mother.

This book showed that Myrna Loy was a true patriot; she gave up her career during the war years. That must have cost her dearly. She used that time to make a difference in a variety of ways (that only someone as famous as she was could do). Other than these activities, I didn't feel that I really knew that much more about what made this star tick.
