  I realize
I can do nothing without You
Everything about me, anything
Good that matters was given to me
By You
And everything that I am without you
Is nothing
Like dust in the wind, it all fades
With the passing of time
At the end of my days, what will
I have, but what I’ve given You to hold?
All that I can hold myself if what I do not want – regret
For a life not well lived, people and opportunities
To bless - gone! Oh Lord, have mercy on my foolish
Image of self! My pride, and desires, my illusions
Forgive me for my lack of forgiveness!
Thank you! Thank you for sparing me with your
Own life
Help me, continue to mold this stubborn piece of clay
My soul cries wordlessly to You in the midst of my
Muddled-ness – but You hear and understand
Second by second, minute by minute
I need You
I need You once again

Sophira - you are lean of speech and eloquent, and I can participate in your images and ideas. This is a starkly beautiful piece, honest and human. I appreciate very much your comments on my latest poem. My stuff, you are right, can be alienating sometimes. I am at the mercy of something much larger than me when I write, and often the words stay hovering just above the common ground. I will be mindful of the distances I create or bridge with my use of language. Thank you!
