The scientist knows he is human because he is the genetic offspring of two homo sapiens.
Apes do not have the intelligence to learn.
The mathematician know he is human because he will always make simple mistakes.
Calculators do not make these errors.
The artist knows he is a human because he can create. He can be productive.
Computers do not have original ideas.
The writer knows he is a human because he can make contact with others and express complicated thoughts.
Dogs can show simple emotions, but they cannot speak.
The priest knows he is human because he has the ability to love others.
A wasp will protect its children, it it doesn't love them, and certainly not it's enemies.
I know I am human because of all of these reasons.
I am the son of two humans.
I make mistakes.
I am productive.
I communicate deep thoughts with others.
I love others.
No ape, calculator, computer, dog, or wasp can claim these wonderful traits because they cannot say:
"I am human"
