From the Dust Jacket:

The stakes have just been raised for psychologist Alan Gregory. His friend and fellow therapist Hannah Grant, has died at her office in the most mysterious of ways. Her sudden death has left police baffled, and it looks like it will just be one more unsolved homicide for Boulder, Colorado. Meanwhile, the city is in a frenzy because 14 year old Mallory Miller disappeared from her house on Christmas Day - echoing the tragic Jon Benet Ramsey case. When Alan learns that Malllory was one of Hannah's patients, he can't help but wonder if there is a connection between the girl's disappearance and her therapist's death. Determined to find out, Alan begins to decipher clues left by Hannah and discovers that the answers to both cases may be locked in the troubled mind of a patient he has been treating for schizophrenia. Now Alan must make a startling move that could cost him his career - and his life.
