I've read all three of them - they are THE best! I can't wait for the next one.

I'm reading the Southern Vampire series now - love them as well.

DW and I both enjoy the Harper Connelly series. It's darker than the Sookie books. Harper has a different voice entirely, a little edgier, less humor, a little more angry about life. Maybe more complex a character.

We both enjoyed the first two books in the series, and DW enjoyed the third, but I did not. I think it may be one of those man-woman point of view things, since a romance was introduced in the third book. The third book, however, had one scene in particular that made me laugh out loud, but there was also one scene that I couldn't shake off for a couple of days. I understand that there will be one more Harper book, a total of four.

Have you read the Lily Bard series? I think it's being reissued if any of them are out of print. Harper is much more like Lily than Sookie.

I read only the first Sookie book, but DW keeps me well informed about plot developments in the rest of the series. <grin>

I have read the first two books in the Lily Bard series (Shakespeare's --------------). I cannot for the life of me get the third one (Shakespeare's Christmas). I looked everywhere you can imagine and can only find them at ridiculous prices ($26 -$110 - for a MM paperback!!!!). I have the fourth & fifth (which are WL'd) but, being a PITA, I won't read them until I can get #3.

I have to admit that I was unsure of the Lily Bard character in the first book. Something seemed "off" to me. But, I enjoyed the second book and am warming to her.

I had no idea some of the Lily Bard's were being offered at ridicules prices - I have all of them, including the Christmas one and had no idea they were that hard to find let alone some being out of print. I plan to keep them though  for now.

Have you tried ordering from B&N? I know they can't charge more than retail price.

I never could get into the Harper series, although I loved the Sookie books and enjoyed the Lily Bard books.  As I recall, there was one of the Shakespeare books I never could find either!

According to Charlaine Harris's website, Shakespeare's Christmas, out of print for several years, will be reissued by Berkley in December 2008. So, not much longer to wait, Charlie! I don't find an ISBN on it yet.

Charlie, I'm in the same boat with not being able to find #3! I, too, have 4 and 5, but can't possibly read them out of sequence (something dreadful will happen, LOL).

So glad for that update, Les! I'll just put those 2 at the bottom of the TBR and wait for Christmas like I did when I was a kid!

I have an unpostable copy of Club Dead, #3 in the Sookie Stackhouse series, that I will be glad to send anyone who asks for it with a request for another book from my shelf.

The first 30 pages or so are warped and the first 15 or so have a light water stain on the outer half of the pages, which makes it unacceptable for posting on PBS.

And I paid good money for this at an upscale used bookstore in the area. I will have to watch them more carefully.....

I like the Harper Connelly books although I haven't read #3 (it's here though).  I couldn't get into Sookie (tried 2) and haven't tried Lily.

Right now I'm actually keeping this series, but I thought I'd see if I could find any way to spend my credits.  It's beginning to seem kind of screwy sending out books and seldom getting any or being afraid to order randomly.  (This is is the first thread I've seen where I actually read the same thing anyone else does, lol!)
