I just have to say that your wish list is really crazy/cool/fun :)

And *lol* at the Martha Stewart thrown in the middle, there.

You might enjoy A Dry Spell :: Susie Moloney, which is more creepy-horror than vampire-horror (think "The Stand" rather than Anne Rice), mixed with romance.  It's on my shelf, and I do deals.

I'm assuming you've read all the Anne Rice/Poppy Z. Brite/Storm Constantine stuff.  I might recommend "Blood and Iron", by Elizabeth Bear, which is not specifically a romance but contains a lot of it.

General Rules in the Book Bazaar:

(6) No trying to jump the Wish List "line" by offering or asking for postable Wish Listed books.  Postable Wish Listed books should be posted and swapped "officially".  This of course does not apply to posts advertising an alternate ISBN  (or non-ISBN version) of a Wish Listed title; it is fine to advertise that you have those posted to your bookshelf.

We all excited and eager to get our WL books. The BB rules do not allow us to ask for people to post them directly to us.

I get told I cant do this yet 1 lady has way over 200 wishlist books she has asked for deals on over and over, yet no one posted a complaint to her topic. I guess people love playing favorites around here. There is also a section where we can post to a certain persons account. Is that against the rules too ?

Sorry, if you see pointing out the rules as a complaint. If I see a post that breaks a rule, I point that out so that other members do not think it is OK to do so simply because they see you doing it. I have not seen her post, had I, I would have pointed out the same rule to her. Maybe you should point the rules out to her instead of following suit by breaking them.  It doesn't matter if you are looking for deals or offering to pay the PBS rate, the site states you cannot use the Book Bazaar  to jump the WL line, no asking for postable WL books.

If it's the one I'm thinking of she's abusing the term "Wish List".  She's listing books she claims would be on her WL if there were only room---but a bunch of them are in the library already, and she wants them at a 3:1 rate.

She's posting books she wants deals on.  They aren't on her WL, despite what she says.  I hope people are checking to see if the books are on SOMEONE's WL before they give them to her at a 3:1 rate.

I don't like her post, and she is misleading, but she isn't trying to get books posted to her WL.  Then she'd have to pay a full credit for them.

In defense of Sherry - She has a rather "unique" wish list and she is also looking for recommendations.

Seriously, give it a break. If people want to be nice and help her out since her books are so unique, what's the problem?

...I didn't realize this was a problem.  I have done this in the past.

I see a real conflict in this, though.  If this shouldn't be done, then allowing people to post a book directly to someone's wishlist shouldn't be allowed, either.  It doesn't make sense for one to be allowed, and the other not.  Both allow someone to "jump ahead" of others in the wishlist line.

Why have a rule if everyone is just allowed to circumvent it anyway?

Sorry for using the word "allow" so much.  :p

I think this thread would be more appropriate for the Club Members' Thoughts forum.

Throwing in my two cents...

Sherry's posts clearly state that she's willing to take ANY version of the books, INCLUDING ARCs, which are not postable.  So, while the books are on her WL, she's willing to take non-WLed version and unpostable versions.

Great idea to post in this forum, Sherry!

BTW, have you tried Vicki Pettersson's books?  They are "urban fantasy", but very good, IMO.  I can also recommend Kelley Armstrong and Jeaniene Frost as good reads.

How about just not opening this thread if you have a problem with the discussion instead of posting you opinion over and over again? I mean, it's a little petty, ya know?! Just leave it,  Also an FYI,  Club Members Thoughts tends to be non-book related topics. It's a bit of everything - minus the books.

how about we let this thread die ?  i just got mad because the person seemed to be rude when pointing out that i was breaking a rule. but as i stated , i am willing to take unpostables and ARC's though like  everyone else i prefer a nice clean copy so I can repost, some of the books in the other topic are WL books. I know because one of the books sat on my wl forever until I made the trip to B&N . She is asking for books not in the system. Such as World War Z by Max Brooks. And I didnt think I was breaking the rules because I had seen it here so many times before. And no I wont go tell someone they are breaking the rules, I will leave that people who know the rules a little better than I do  or to the PBS leaders.

And I didnt think I was breaking the rules because I had seen it here so many times before. This is the exact reason why I post the rules when they are being broken. I had no idea if you knew the rule at  all or just  didn't care.  Seriously, if you took my post as rude, I am sorry you took it that way, I merely copied the rule in so that anyone seeing a post asking for WL books knew it was against the BB rules. There was no mean or evil intent.

There are also many ways you could have edited your post to get by the rule - just post that you are willing to accept unpostables on some of your WL books and could people please take a look? You may catch a few that post good copies directly to you, but you haven't broken the rules, KWIM?  Instead you lashed out at me like I was a big meany going around picking on people who were doing nothing wrong. BTW - why would you want the thread to die, every reply gets it pushed to the top of the first page and I can bet you are getting people checking your WL?

Again, sorry if you took me as being mean, it was just a 'hey, did you know?' post.

This comes up now and then. You are not the first person who has had a friendly reimder pointed out about the rules. I don't think Melanie was rude, only being a helper bee. :)

Some folks have had wishlist books on their wishlists from 2005, so it causes some hurt feelers, when folks try to jump over them.

Nothing personal, no playing favorites.

I know I'm guilty of not reading every single post in the forums. So perhaps folks read your post, but may had missed the others. :)
