I'm not sure if I'm answering your question or not. If someone refuses your RC's, then normally you can not order that book again from them. IF that was the only copy in the system - then your book goes on your reminder list. IF another copy is available your request rolls over to them. |

There is a loophole in the ordering process. If you do a multi-book order directly from another member's shelf, it skips some of the checking that usually happens to validate a request. You can also use this same loophole to order multiple copies of a book. The hard part is figuring out which member's shelf has the book(s) you need. |

This exact situation happend to me this past week where I had an old RC up that applied to a specific book I had previously ordered from somone. I forgot to turn it off when I placed another order and my request was declined. My reflective instinct was to be irritated that the "sender" obviously didn't pay close attention to my RC, but the bottom line is I made the mistake. PBS does not require anyone to care about anyone else's RC, so being critical of someone exercising their right to not be concerned about my RC is just a waste of my emotion. I also did exactly what you explain and I think you've answered your own question (unless I don't understand your question). The answer is, Yes it works if it is the last book in the system. The book I did this on was on my WL, so it was definitely the only one in the system. I was thrilled to find a way around my mistake. The only way it wouldn't work is if someone else had it on their wishlist, then the book would have gone to them instead (I guess Cozi explained that well, though). So I have to also be thrilled that I was the only one wanting this particular book. I've learned I need to be careful about my RC if I'm going to be using that feature at all. And I only have myself to blame if I am not. Last Edited on: 12/19/08 5:52 PM ET - Total times edited: 2 |

Actually, here's the description of a recent change: If a sender declined your request of the only copy in the system and you still want the book (and that copy is still available): you can now Change your Requestor Conditions - turn them off or adjust the text and click Update - and request that copy again. If the book was a Wish List book and was offered to the next wisher, you can't do that, obviously because that copy of the book is no longer available. |
