I like this book. I have hiked maybe 2 of the hikes so far and plan on doing much more come winter. The reason I like this book over other books on hiking is because of the wide array of hikes included. There are long hikes 6-10 miles and short hikes 1-3 miles. Also this book is not just concentrated on one section of NC but all of NC. Yes there are more hikes where the author lives but at least 10-12 hikes within 1-2 hours of my house. There is also a brief intro to the area. You must get a map of the area you are hiking though, not just go with the book.

This book concentrates on the "classic" hike or a hike that has more interesting things than just a hike, like an area you would want to go back to and each time and you would notice something different each time. I highly recommend it.
