Well written fictionalized account of the earthquake that devasted San Francisco in 1906. This actually focuses as much on the political corruption that was going on prior to, and during the earthquake, as it does on the disaster itself. very thought provoking book.

If you enjoy this genre, you will really like this book. After you get into it a while, it reads like an action movie. I sort of picked this up hoping it would be good but not knowing much about it. Had just finished reading "Devil in the White City" and wanted to read some more historical event type literature(although the latter book mentioned is not fictional). I was not disappointed!
