If anyone is looking for a paranormal mystery series for the challenge a good one is Mary Stanton's Beaufort and Company Mysteries. There are four in the series. They have angels in them. Can also work for you angel category. Generally I don't like angels but this is well written, and the protagonist is not a ditz.

I finished the magic category by reading Tangled Threads by Jennifer Estep. I love that series. This one is book 4 in the series. She has done a great job in crowing the characters and keeping the series fresh. These books would make a great action movie. Not sure who I get to play Gin though. Hollywood and I always picture things differently.

I am reading Demon Glass by Rachel Hawkins (YA book) to finshing Demons/Angels category. I like this second book in the sereis much better than the first. She does a good quick job of recapping book one and then takesoff iinto an interesting new plot going over to the OK with Sophie's father. Really caught by interesting.

Can't find any ghost/necromancer that are catching my interest.  I do have a paranormal mystery series by Alice Kimberly that has a ghost maybe I will try one of those. Anyone have recommendations for that category?

That's funny, Alice, the ghost/necromancer is the one category I haven't finished.  So far I read The Graveyard Book (which I liked, and it's a very quick read) and Devoured (which is VERY YA, maybe too much for my taste).  I have the AJ Halliday books (by Victoria Laurie) on my TBR that I was planning to use for this category but I always seem to find a reason not to read them - which is strange because I love the psychic eye books she writes.

I am reading that Jennifer Estep series for my "start and complete a series with at least three books" and I've finished the second, so I have two more to go.  I agree, it's really excellent - one of the better paranormals I've picked up in the last little while (perhaps that and the cozy challenge explain why I've been reading mostly mysteries these days and haven't made very much progress here).

I finally finished the main challenge!!! I got through the ghost books. I read First Grave on the Right and Second Grave on the Left by Darynda Jones. Very good paranormal mysteries. Last one was Haunting Violet by Alyxandra Harvey. Very good YA set in 1870 deals with spiritualst and being chased by ghost needing help.

Not sure I will finish the bonus category unless I stop running and entireing swaps.

How are other folks doing?

Almost at the end of the year. Did folks finish the challenge. Would some like to put together one for 2012?

I finished the main challenge but did do the bonus, tried but failed. I read lots of genres so I couldn't get trough all the series I wanted.

I am as done as I'm gonna get this year.  I would have had to read 2 more books to have finished reading 3 in each catagory, but it's not going to happen, not with the holidays coming up.  I really hope someone comes up with a new challenge for 2012.  I am just not that clever, and I have tons of books yet to read.

This was such a good thing for me to do. I read a few books I normally wouldn't have even thought of. I also realized I read an awful lot of Vampire and Shifter books. I will definitely do this again if everyone else does.

I finished the book list and one of the bonus challenges, but I don't think I can finish any series I have started.  Even though I have a couple series where I just need to read one more book to be current, I don't think I'm going to make it with the holidays.  But this was a fun challenge, I liked that all of the different categories made me stretch a bit to try other things.  I think I would do another one next year but I don't know if I am creative enough to come up with an idea myself.  The only thing I was thinking was something related to authors' last names and letters of the alphabet, all in paranormal - I know I tend to read the same authors over and over, so it would be a challenge to read more different authors, however the challenge was structured to accomplish that.  Just a thought.

I will do up another one, but you have to help with ideas for categories.Maybe 10 -15 categories and 2 bonus categories. I lot of the other challenges have you read just one book in each category. How many books in each category do you want? I think iti s okay to borrow some  categories from last year too. So let you ideas come forth.

Christine to play out your idea my initials are ASJ so I could read an author that had one of those letters for a first, last or middle name.

I always like read a author new to you category.

Does anyone know how to make a banner. 2012 Paranormal challenge

Other quick ideas - help develop them more

- Ttile with color in it

-Title with Werewolf, vampire, ghost  etc in it (could be one category or more)

- book with scary weapon on cover

-Book cover that has a person with best body

-2012 is suppose to be end of world  we can try to figure that in some how maybe a new world UF?

-Most awesome couple

-New release

-First in series

okay time for you to come up with some or expand on my list's ideas

Maybe the end of the world category could be dystopia?  There are so many good ones out there.

Maybe a new-to-you author with a first or last name that starts with the same letter as your first or last name?  That seems pretty specific, so maybe breaking them up - so read a certain number of new-to-you authors, and then read three authors, last names that begin with the same letter as your first, middle or last name.  Although I have 2 Es so that one would be tricky for me.

I'll keep thinking....

I was able to complete the challenge, but did not finish one of the two bonus challenges.  I really enjoyed doing it and would love to again next year.  I will try to do some thinking on some categories.  Off the top of my head, how about a zombie category?

I second the zombie category because I would never read one unless I had to. What about humor? I love SHelly Laurenston but don't really know others.
