This is the thread for LISTS ONLY of the books you will be reading. There is a separate thread for discussions.

 

This is the finalized list of categories for this mini challenge:

1.) In the village of Blarney, there's one magic stone...... An historical mystery featuring Ireland.

2.) It's a Pirate's Life for Me! HF mystery involving pirates, piracy, etc.

3.) Off to Visit The Wizard! HF mystery involving magic, sorcery, etc.

4.) Take 'er Easy There, Pilgrim. HF mystery which occurs or involves a pilgrimage/ journey to a holy place.

5.) What Befalls Me? Another HF mystery in which there is illness of some sort.

6.) Pyramids, Scarabs, Ankhs and Ra!! HF mystery set in, around or involving Egypt.

7.) Oooh, Spooky! HF mystery with a hint of the paranormal or what appears to be paranormal.

8.) It's All in the Family. Could a member of one's own family be involved????

9.) Could It Be Me? HF mystery in which the protagonist is suspect.

10.) In Your Own Backyard. HF mystery in the States.

11.) Water, Water Everywhere! HF mystery in which water is involved in the location of the mystery.

12.) A Bad State of Decay! Historical mystery that's been on your shelf the longest.

Bonus: An Historical mystery that won a book award.

Since this is actually a Mini Challenge, only 8 of the above books will be required to complete this challenge. The challenge will begin on Jan. 1st, 2012 and will end on Dec. 31st,  2012. On Jan. 1st of 2013, I will have DH draw a name from those who have completed the challenge and that person will receive a book from their WL (my choosing). Those who want to complete the entire challenge will be doing so on their own accord and for the satisfaction of reading all of these interesting books.

 2012 Historical Mystery Mini-Challenge LISTS ONLY
 

This is the thread for LISTS ONLY of the books you will be reading. There is a separate thread for discussions.

 

This is the finalized list of categories for this mini challenge:

1.) In the village of Blarney, there's one magic stone...... An historical mystery featuring Ireland.

2.) It's a Pirate's Life for Me! HF mystery involving pirates, piracy, etc.

3.) Off to Visit The Wizard! HF mystery involving magic, sorcery, etc.

4.) Take 'er Easy There, Pilgrim. HF mystery which occurs or involves a pilgrimage/ journey to a holy place.

5.) What Befalls Me? Another HF mystery in which there is illness of some sort.

6.) Pyramids, Scarabs, Ankhs and Ra!! HF mystery set in, around or involving Egypt.

7.) Oooh, Spooky! HF mystery with a hint of the paranormal or what appears to be paranormal.

8.) It's All in the Family. Could a member of one's own family be involved????

9.) Could It Be Me? HF mystery in which the protagonist is suspect.

10.) In Your Own Backyard. HF mystery in the States.

Bonus: An Historical mystery that won a book award.

Since this is actually a Mini Challenge, only 8 of the above books will be required to complete this challenge. The challenge will begin on Jan. 1st, 2012 and will end on Dec. 31st,  2012. On Jan. 1st of 2013, I will have DH draw a name from those who have completed the challenge and that person will receive a book from their WL (my choosing). Those who want to complete the entire challenge will be doing so on their own accord and for the satisfaction of reading all of these interesting books.

Except for the mini-challenge requirement of the 2012 HF Challenge (Course 1, menu item D), I am not going to use any book more than once to fulfill the requirements of either challenge. Books listed below are initial ideas; I may change & substitute different titles/authors as I move through the year (& see what fabulous books other people are reading!)

1. An historical mystery featuring Ireland. 

2. HF mystery involving pirates, piracy, etc.

3. HF mystery involving magic, sorcery, etc. The Flower Reader, Elizabeth Loupas, finished 16 Sep. Young woman (Rinette Leslie), part of young Queen Mary's court in 1560's Scotland can understand what the flowers are saying to her. She uses this knowledge to help her uncover the mystery of who murdered her husband and who stole the silver cask belonging to Mary's mother, Marie of Guise.

4. HF mystery which occurs or involves a pilgrimage/ journey to a holy place.

5. Another HF mystery in which there is illness of some sort. A Foreign Affair, Caro Peacock, finished 2 Jul. First Libby Lane mystery; RE: Imposter as Princess Charlotte's still-born son. Setting is 1837; William III has died; Victoria is heir apparent.

6. HF mystery set in, around or involving Egypt. Book by Elizabeth Peters

Planned to read eight but decided to finish the whole challenge!   How about that?  Have so many books I want to read I am not sure where to start here.  Expanding mystery to include thriller.  Hope that is ok!
