2013 Contemp. Lit Challenge Info & list posting here!

Here is an option (a little different from our previous challenges). I took everyone's input into consideration and tried to create flexibility while still keeping it "challenging." Let me know your thoughts...& please check my math! smiley Also, I sometimes have included examples of books to help clarify topics.

Hi Kristin, these look like fun categories! What's really spooky for me is that last night I jotted down  a few ideas and one was "a work that has something to do with a secret" -- which is exactly what you have in Misc. #1! So, great minds, etc.   :)

 A possible category to consider?

Time zone: A work that contains  an expression or allusion to time in the title. Since your first category is "Gone but not forgotten" and also deals with time, might we rename your first category "Time Zone" and add  a number 4 to it to be : "A work that contains and an expression or allusion to time in the title" ?EX: A Clockwork Orange, The Year of the Flood  ?

Another category that might be fun: (and could perhaps go into your Miscellanea category)

Sensory overload:: A work that incorporates one or more of the five senses. Can be in the plot OR the title. Ex: Fingersmith, Perfume… you get the idea

I'm psyched. Half the fun is thinking of how to decrease my TBR pile and I think you've provided ample opportunities here!

Great list.  I like it.  I wouldn't change a thing.  At least not at first glance.....LOL.

I'm up for it, will be fun to find books in the TBR to fit.

Uh oh, another one for us math-challenged people!  This year I'm doing the historical fiction challenge and I can't tell you how many times I've had to go back to the lists and count categories and titles!

But I'm in, not sure if I'll do the Challenge or the Light Challenge, it depends on how many other challenges I sign up for next year.

Thanks for coming up with this, Kristin.

The "Lists" thread for the 2013 challenge has been posted! Please note that the first category has changed slightly. (It's now "Time & time again" & has 1 new topic.) Also, there is an additional topic (related to the senses) in "Miscellanea." These changes were based on other participants' input.

Happy hunting!
