2016 Challenge - LIST ONLY---

Here is The Reading Challenge for 2016. Challenge starts Jan 1, 2016.

This year there will be medals for achievements.

Bronze Medal -- read 3 categories
Silver Medal -- read 6 categories
Gold Medal -- read 12 categories
Diamond Medal -- read 12 categories plus 2 bonus
Platinum Medal -- read 12 categories plus 4 bonus
Titanium Medal - read 12 categories plus 6 bonus

  1. Everyone deserves a second chance:  Read a mystery by an author you previously tried reading and didn't care for.  (2009)
  2. Something new on the shelf:  Read a mystery/thriller from an author you've never read before. (2009)
  3. Home Sweet Home:  Read a mystery that takes place as close as possible to where you live--same town or city or general area would be great, but at least in the same state.  (2010)
  4. Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes:  Read a mystery that contains ONE of the following words in the title: Chocolate, Cherry, Chai, or Chicken.  (2010)
  5. Scooby, is that you?  Read a mystery that has a paranormal element to it, ghost, zombies, vampires etc.  (2011)
  6. Glory Days:  Read a mystery that was published the year you graduated high school. (2011)
  7. The Jewel in the Crown:  Read a mystery that has a precious or semi-precious gem in the title: ruby, sapphire, emerald, diamond, pearl etc. (2012)
  8. War is Hell:  Read a mystery that is set during any American war through World War II. Revolutionary, Civil, 1812…they all qualify!   (2012)
  9. A long road home:  Read a mystery that is at least 400 pages long. (2013
  10. Good to see you again:  Read an author that you always enjoy. (2013)
  11. Having a senior moment here:  Read a mystery with a senior citizen as sleuth (amateur or retired professional) (2014)
  12. AH! Inspector, just in time for tea:  Read a Brit police mystery (2014)

 

BONUS CATEGORIES:

  1. Complete a series: Read to the end of a 'dead' series, one that will have no further books forthcoming.  Either it’s been completed or the author has died.  (2009)
  2. Clean it up!:  Read three mysteries that have been sitting on your TBR stacks for at least a year.(2010)
  3. Somewhere Over the ROY G BIV:  Read seven books with one color of the rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet) in the title. (2011)
  4. See the USA in Your Chevrolet:  Read at least five books, each set in a different region of the 48 contiguous United States. We’re in a Chevy and we don’t have a passport. Regions could include: New England, Southeast, Pacific West, Rocky Mountains, Desert Southwest, Great Lakes, Midwest etc.  You can add Hawaii and Alaska AFTER the first five!  (2012)
  5. Don't talk about religion!  Read a book with a main character who is a leader in a religious organization---Priest, Priestess, Pastor, Nun, Shaman, etc. (2013)
  6. Around the World:   Read six books set in a different location – Not the U.S.!  Try to read a book from a place you’d like to visit for a bit more of a challenge.  (2014)
