If the ISBN's don't match, then they probably don't want that copy.

When chosing a book on a WL, people can chose to put the other editions on there as well. (Assuming the site knows that there are other editions.) If they chose not to wait for those others, then odds are they won't want a different one.

I think most people will pull up a book by title, so yours could be picked next, no matter what ISBN it has. I usually order mine by title and binding. Hardly ever ISBN.

I'd just be patient and not worry about it. If they want it, they can find it as long as it's on your shelf.

I think there is still a post in the Book Bazaar forum for books that are WL under a different ISBN.  You could go post on that thread about the book you have.

I will go to the ISBN with the wishers and add a Tag, something like "Also Under ISBN xxx".

Thanks Emily!  That was a great idea!  I just added "Also under ISBN..." tags to 8 books.

I have been scratching my head over how to let those people know.  I hope it works...

I thought the best way to get your same title with a  different iSBN "advertised" was the automatic msg PBS sends out to wishers that shows a book "similar to your request" has been posted.

To get the books linked, and get the message, everything has to exactly match. The name has to be exactly correct. The system will not link the books if there is a typo.

Now, when I say exact match, it really has to be exact. A missing initial or period will cause the computer to see it as two different authors.

Ok these 2 books are paperbacks of the same book .  One is mass market and one is the larger size.  The ISBNs do not reference each other.  They each only list the hardback as another version.  I did email to the site but no one has done anything.  There are 4 people wishing for one of them and yet it is the other that is posted (and yes, it is mine).  Drives me nuts.

If these wishers are like me, they might put a book on their wish list when it comes into print, not realizing that a year and a half later another version has been printed.  I would imagine that some people will only read certain size books but I think some people are like me and don't care which size it is but once the first one is on the list they don't realize that another one is available.  Am I making any sense and is PBS missing something here???
