You mean in other forums? I don't use most of the others - just this forum, the Book Bazaar for deals shopping, and the Questions for PBS forum, so I'm not sure how they handle deals posting in any of the other genre forums. We just try to either post a reminder that it's not allowed, or ignore the threads until they drop off the first page. The general rule for posting across all of the forums is that deals are supposed to go in the Book Bazaar forum & nowhere else, but they don't have like a PBS police force watching for that, they just rely on members to sort of assume some responsibility for keeping their favorite forums they way they're supposed to be. We do end up getting deals threads posted in this forum, and usually, they're ignored until nobody responds on them long enough that they drop way down the list, and disappear. As long as the thread owner doesn't bump them anyway:P In which case, someone usually will say something. We went ahead and made that thread that I posted the link to so everyone could put their deals in there, and I thought it was working well for a while, but I've seen a lot of deals threads going up again lately. Not everybody knows about the rule, and that's fine, but sometimes we do have to post reminders - usually every couple of months or so, and it will stop again... for a while... and then we start all over again:P
And just so you're aware, Tammie, none of the regular users of this forum will order from deals threads posted here, so it's really a waste of everyone's time to post them here anyway. It's just our general rule to discourage posting deals here. This forum is for book & author discussions, not advertising.
