Hi, everyone!

I'm a 5th grade teacher who is just learning about guided reading.  I'm trying to get myself a library of books for this level.  My students range from a 4.5 reading level up to about a 5.5-5.7 reading level.  Does anyone have sets of at least 6-8 of the same book that would fit this age level?  Any idea where I can get books like this for a small charge.  I've checked Scholastic but at $3.50-$4.50 a book, I'm looking at $35 a pop.

Also, are there any good links/sites/books that you would recommend to someone who is incorporating this on her own.  Our district currently doesn't require it and teaches reading out of a basal.  I'd love to expand and have my students actually ENJOY reading.  I'm trying to learn all that I can before I go into this full force.

Thanks for any help!

Stephanie

I was able to get my daughter's 5th grade teacher 22 copies of the same book while building her library by using the BB.  Many times there are 4 for 1 deals or better.  If you look often you will see many people have the same book.  The one she wanted was Holes.  Also got the Bridge to Terabithia.  It does not take long to get them either ... just credits.

Thanks, snowbear!

I did post this same message in BB so hopefully someone will respond!  It was really nice of you to build up her teacher's library!

I'm no longer teaching 5th grade and have a closet full of multiple copies of books I can no longer use.  I've tried posting multiple copies, but can't do it.  How can I market these on PBS?  How can I help you out?

Nancy...........I've tried to post multiple copies but PBS only lets you list them 1 at a time.

If you would PM me the titles that you have and how many of each you have, I would really appreciate it.  Perhaps we could work out a deal w/ credits for a box or two.

If you are interested in getting rid of some of your multiples, please PM me.  I really appreciate it.
