Many of the posts on this forum concern problems members are having.  That's fine.  After all, that's one of the main purposes of this forum.  But I just wanted to report that I've gotten 6 absolutely spotless, wonderful books from 6 different members in the last two weeks.  I just wanted to say that there are many good members of PBS, and that I need to keep that in mind whenever I have to deal with a problem book or member.  I've posted this as a reminder to myself, so that the next time I get a RWAP, I can look back on this and remember that it's 99% good.

That is so nice to hear!  I usually get very nice books- have a 2 rwaps in a row this week, but it doesn't happen too often.  Lots of great people in the club, that's for sure!

Wonderful!  I consider myself very lucky, since most of the books I get are "like new" condition.  It's nice to be reminded of the positive.  :)

Most of the books I've received have been in excellent shape. One recent HC was in nearly pristine condition, my 3rd try here at getting a HC copy of this particular book and  I was thrilled.

Another book (not same sender) was a RWAP, heck the book is readable - what was my beef? Uh, readable does not equal postable. A book is readable even if it's in 300 loose pages. Sender wad dismayed that I found the book in RWAP shape.

Overall, my transactions have been great - yes, there are members who care and follow the rules.

I just got one today that looks absolutely brand new.  I never expect that, so it's always a pleasant surprise when a book is so pristine!

YAY! That's awesome!  I have had really good luck too; until the most recent. It's not a big thing, but two pages are wavy and what I would assume is water damage. (Unless anyone else would know what could cause that!)  It wasn't noticable at all until I got there, and those pages didn't even have writing that far down. But I'm still afraid to repost it.  :( It seems as though it has been going around for a while (the book is waitlisted). I feel bad not offering, but I don't want to send a book that I wouldn't get credit for.

Yay for good swaps! I got one water damage RWAP this week and one last week, but those are my first two in a long time and both were nice about it. And I've definitely gotten some very nice books in my time here at PBS, so I can take the bad with the good. I've got a boatload of books on their way to me right now, and I'm feeling very optimistic about them after your post, Marsha! smiley

I like this thread -- I've received nothing but great books in the past months.  I can't remember when the last time was that I opened a package to find an unpostable book inside.  It's happened, and it's disappointing. But thanks, Marsha, for reminding me to rejoice in all the people who have shared great books with me.

I ordered 4 from one member just last week. All four arrived - one is in very good condition, the other three look like she might have gone to the bookstore and bought them for me!  I've received over 400 books through PBS and have only RWAPed 4 times.  Not bad, huh?

Great trade stories make me smile--the great majority of my trades are like this, so when I read about all the bad trades, RWAPs, rude members, etc. I'm always a bit puzzled because I just don't have those experiences. Many, many of the books I get are like new.

I just had to check my TA and see, and in my 6+ years here, out of 1670 books received, I have marked two as damaged/unpostable and two as 'wrong book' because the wrong version was sent. There were a couple of other 'bad trades' that I caught before they made it to the TA--wishlisted books posted weeks/months before release date (which was what was alerted me) and managed to PM the poster and found that they were indeed ARCs before they sent the book, so we got them cancelled. But the huge majority of my trades go as smooth as silk.

I love opening a package and seeing a book in there in wonderful shape.  Most of the ones I have received are.  Only a few rwaps.  Thanks for reminding us to not always focus on the bad!

I also had a wonderful experience recently.  I ordered 4 hard-cover children's books from one person.  She lives very near me, so I suggested that if she wanted to meet somewhere or drop them off, she could save on postage.  She dropped them off on the day she said she would, the books were in like-new condition, and she refunded me one credit for giving her the option to save on postage!!!  I LOVE PBS!!!!

So far I've only had one book that wasn't in decent shape for a used book. It was postable, but I decided to retire it.

I've had many, many books in almost like new condition. I've never RWAP'ed anyone and  >>>>Fingers Crossed<<<<  never had one of my books RWAP'ed.
