Hey mystery peeps!  Here we are at the end of the third quarter of our reading challenge so it's time to check in!  Tell how things are going, tell us if you've given up, tell us what you like and dislike. The final three months of the year are upon us (Saturday) so there is still plenty of time to get a lot of reading done.  And remember, even if you only completed a few of the categories, you read a book or two so it's all good.

I would like to take this opportunity to offer up my "services" for the 2012 challenge.  I have some ideas kicking around and unless someone really has a burning desire, I'm happy to come up with next years challenge as well.  After that, I will pass the torch on to the next vic...person! :P

Lead on, MacDuff! LOL You did a great job with this year's challenge, LeeAnne...looking forward to the next.

As to my progress...I am done with the major 12 categories so officially I've finished the challenge...for bonus categories, I still have 4 of the color ones to do and three of the continent ones. I have one of the color challenge books waiting at the library for me and the other here on TBR--there are two that I may or may not get to. I am currently reading my Australia book and then will just have South America and Antarctica left...I doubt I will get the Antarctic one done. I usually try to get all the bonus rounds done, but it's just been too much of a struggle this year with the crazy twists and turns my life has taken in recent months and I refuse to worry about it. LOL

I'm about half finished with my final book for the 12 main categories of the challenge. I still need to read two continents and all the colors which means I may finish the continent bonus but probably will not finish the colors bonus.

I guess I should post here as well.  I finished the main challenge and both of the bonuses.  I'm glad I made the around the world bonus only five continents because I could not find an Antarctica mystery that looked interesting to me! LOL!

I am slowly gathering ideas for next year's challenge.  I hope it is worthy!!

I've still got 3 books to read for the main challenge and 2 (I think) for the color challenge.  I'll probably finish those 2 but I don't think I'll finish the around the world challenge.

I still need an author born in NYC and an orange book.

Hello All --- Congratulations to all those who have completed the entire Challenge!!!  I am down to two books to complete the whole thing.  My green book and my paranormal.  They are both sitting here to read and I think I will read green first.  This has really been fun for me.  I did try some new authors, but mostly getting to know the participants has been great.  Just reading the "monthly" thread has given me more new authors than one could imagine --- also filled spots on the TBR to overflowing!!!

Well, I had no idea it's been so long since I posted--my last post said I had two more books to finish for the challenge and that I hope to get them done in July!

I did finish them in July, although it took until the evening of the 31st to read the last pages of the last book, Green Grow the Victims, by Jeanne Dams.

I had a wonderful time with this year's challenge, found some great books I would never have tried without it.  As soon as the weather started turning cool I started thinking about next year's challenge, so yes LeeAnne, go for it--just announce the date you will post it ahead of time so we can anticipate!!

I'm almost done (well, 3 books away, and they are quick reads) from finishing the Historical Fiction Challenge, but I have lots left to read in my other challenges.  For some reason September was a very light reading month, I read fewer books that month than I have in any month for the last 3 years!  October looks to be better in that regard.
