I've been on this nostalgia kick lately of reading books I read in junior high. 

There is one book that I just cannot remember the title of or the author for that matter, but perhaps someone will recognize this book...

The main character is Carrie, a student who gets a scholarship to attend an exclusive girls' private boarding school (high school I think not college).  She is from a poorer background and tries to hide that fact from the uppity privileged girls there and becomes liked.  She meets a boy during a co-ed dance with a private boys' school.  She is pressured to take part in a dangerous hazing ritual and with the urging of her boyfriend goes to school authorities because she fears for her saftey and that of her friends.
