I have two different ways I stamp the books I send out: 1) APC stamp of $0.22 and 5 first class stamps to equal $2.47 ( or a few more, it is over 1 pound) 2) DYMO stamp printed from DYMO Machine as first class typically close to 2>47 and then I add a few stamps. My routine is to wrap, stamp, and drop in a blue box on my way home after dropping my son off at school. However, on my last visit to a small local post office... the postal clerk told me that if they didn't stamp it with their cancelled stamp stamper or put a $0.00 postage on it by THEM, that it would get returned to me. So...I was wondering what the official regulations say about media mail that is greater than twelve ounces, but has a least one sticker with a bar code which can be traced to me and my credit card. If put in a bluebox is that breaking rules? |

I don't think putting them in the blue box is breaking the rules since. I frequently use a combination of an APC stamp and regular stamps and have never had one returned to me. As far as I know, if there is an APC stamp included with the postage, it is considered traceable. I'm not familiar with DYMO stamps, but I would think they would be traceable too.

I agree, APC is tracable postage and can be blue boxed even when combined with stamps. Regarding the zero strip thing, some postal units seem to be getting their panties in a bunch over this. Dunno if it's a change in policy, but more likely overcompensation for lack of knowledge. |

Parcels over 13 ounces and bearing ONLY stamps as postage must be taken to the window. Yours are APC + stamps, so they don't have to be taken to the window. |

This will probably be a case where you'll have to find the rule in writing and show it to them. I noticed that on the sticker placed on the blue boxes about the 13 ounce rule, the wording is "bearing postage stamps", not bearing ONLY postage stamps (which it should have been). If the employee takes this literally instead of thinking about why the rule was instituted, they will need to be corrected. Diane |
