Seriously. Same book over two days. First one - accepted less than 30 minutes after it was posted - 2 days later - "Cannot find the book" Second one - accepted less than 15 minutes after it was posted - 2 MINUTES later - "Change of heart"
I can understand books that have been on people's shelves for awhile going missing. But just posted? *sigh* At this rate, by the time I get this book, I won't even need it. |

I felt horrible a few weeks ago. I posted a WL book and then realized it had water damage! I thought I had checked it thoroughly but you seriously had to be looking at it in the right light and at a certain angle to notice the damage. I PM'd the person right away and offered to send it out for free but she never got back to me. I really did feel awful. |

I can understand damaged books, too, really. I had a cat knock a glass of water over on my desk, saturating a book I had sitting there. I now sit books on top of my tower. My daughter, at one point, took a stamp she had to the spines of all of the books I had on my Listed Shelf, AND the hardbacks TBR I had on the shelf under them. -Luckily- it was watersoluble and wiped off with a damp cloth. It's a pre-school type book, which I am hoping to get and "put into use" with my daughter to help her get ready for Kindy next year. I know I could just buy it, but...I don't get out to the bookstore much, and when I do, I'm usually firmly planted in the sci-fi/fantasy section. I have blinders to everything else. :D |

To use an example in another thread -- maybe the person posting the books just had too many requests all at once and can't cover that much postage on short notice. Saying "can't find" or "change of heart" might just be their way of trying to be polite. |

I know it doesn't help you Michelle, but I can think of one more reason why you may have gotten that first "cannot find", and it's a reason that makes a lot of sense.
Just because a book you have on your WL suddenly "pops up" doesn't always mean it was just posted. It could have been posted months ago, by someone who has had their books on vacation hold for an extended amount of time. Something like this happened to me not so very long ago.
My g/f and I were moving to a different state. Just before we boxed up the computers and the last of the books I put my shelf on vacation hold for 30 days. Turns out 30 days wasn't long enough, and my list came off vacation hold before I was ready. All our books were in boxes (over a hundred of them, sitting in the garage) and suddenly I've got three requests to answer. I tried to find the right box with the right books, but eventually (after two days of looking) I had to mark two of them as not being able to find the book. I did find the one book though, and got it mailed out in the nick of time. I also put my shelf back on hold for another six weeks. It's only recently that I've gotten most of my books unpacked and took the shelf off hold. ETA: Could be something like this happened with your WL book.
