From the bestselling author of biblical novels In the exotic setting of King Davids world, Lois Henderson spins the fascinating tale of Abigail, the free spirited and beautiful wide of the warrior monarch. The story is colorful and credible, based on the two dramatic books 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel, and embellished by the authors rich imagination and faithful attention to biblical fact.
We see Abigail first a s child in a loving home, surrounded by kindness and care. She is then thrust into an unhappy marriage to Nabal, who shows her greed, indifference, and drunkenness. Without the support and love of her husband she draws closer to God, who provides her comfort and joy.
We watch as God builds her courage, her devotion to the teachings of Samuel, her faith in Yahweh and in Israel. These, and her independent spirit are qualities that endear her to David and eventually lead her to become his third wife.
Dripping narrative, rich plot, meticulous historical accuracy, and fully realized characters blend in a skillful reconstruction of the story of this woman who rose from humble origins, triumphed over adversity, and became a model for deep lobe and enduring faith.
But read on for yourself and meet the extraordinary woman to whom David said, Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, which send thee this day to meet me; an blessed be thy advice.

I really loved reading this book. I've read 1st and 2nd Samuel in the Bible many times, and even tho I know this story was fiction, so much matched the Bible perfectly. It helped me realize however that David could have been a regular guy with faults like everyone else instead of the perfect King and man of God that I had decided he was. A beautifully written love story! I would recommend it to any and everyone.
