Hi all.   I recently had a book marked "undeliverable."  I have been checking back on it and now it looks like it was was routed back to a mail center and went back out.  Now the last thing says "Notice Left."

Can someone please tell me what that means?  Did they leave a note on the door or something???

Thanks!

Cassandra

ETA - Thanks that helps.  I've actually talked with the receipient and there was a address change that didn't go as planned.  It should all work out in the end.

Just a guess, but based on experience. Something was wrong with the address, like a missing number or something illegible. Possibly a relief carrier was on the route and had no clue where it went. Then another person looked at it and realized where it was supposed to go, and routed it in the right direction, or the regular carrier came back and realized where it went.

Another possibility, not as positive, is that someone made a guess and left a notice, maybe at the right address, and maybe not. You might want to send a message to the recipient and find out if they have received the book or a notice, and also suggest that they check at their local post office to see if the book is there for them.

'Notice left' means the delivery person left a PS Form 3849 Delivery Notice/Reminder/Receipt in the customer's mailbox.
