I don't want to sound like I'm whining, because I love this site, but the recommendations list just drives me nuts.  Every time I check FABIL it lists books that are on my BIR list.  Well, yeah, I might like them - I've already read them. lol  It will list several copies of the same book with the same ISBN.  Does nayone know why this happens?  Maybe TPTB have an answer.  Going thru the entire FABIL list I've only ever found 1 book that I would consider adding to my WL.  I check NI to delete ones I know I wouldn't want.  I guess I wish it could more helpful (not like I don't have enough to read already).  I recently ordered books from Overstock and about a week later they sent me an email with recommendations that was so spot on I was amazed.

OK, I'm done whining.

I don't use it because it seems to base recommendations off of one book that you like, which is why books you have read will often show up as recommendations.  For recommendations I will generally use Amazon, and look at "customers also bought" or listmania lists related to the title I am interested in.  In fairness, it seems like the PBS Team is putting their efforts into improving the usability of the site rather than Fabil.

Also, I will use PBS to find recommendations - when someone requests a book from me that I particularly enjoyed, I will click on the PM button to find the recipients identity.  I will then click on his/her name (rather than actually sending a PM) so I can look at his/her wishlist.  Maybe this is sneaky or stalker-like, but I have found a lot of good books this way.  :-)
