Butch Karp fans watch out, when his family is threatened there is no holding back this DA. I found the book to be engrossing from the moment I picked it up, the cover is a bit torn, but that is only due to my intense reading. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.

"Absolute Rage" is one of Robert Tanenbaum's best. It starts calmly and gradually builds up to a brain bashing crescendo as it zeroes in on some genuine hillbilly killers who hold an entire region of West Virginia in terror and who have involved Butch and his family by killing a friend. No fan of Tanenbaum's will be dissatisfied with this book. Unlike many authors who write successive series, he doesn't spend page after page telling about the past or describing the personalities of his characters. He lets that information develop as part of the story, which is a real relief.

At first had a hard time getting into it, but after about 20 pages, I couldn't put it down. Great storyline & characters. I'll try this author again.

I enjoyed this even though it starts out as a rich-people, family-themed beach read. Once the Heeney's are murdered, the story really gets going and it's action, action, action.

The premise is an old mining town in West Virginia is run by the Union leader and not the town itself. The police, judges, lawyers, hell everyone, is bought and paid for by the union. So whatever they say goes. Red Heeney is running against the Union head and when it appears he might actually win, the Heeney's are murdered. There is a major cover up and a patsy arrested. The Karp's (lawyers from NY and friends of the Heeney's) come in the help with lots of federal help. The action is intense and at times brutal. A well thought out storyline with wonderful characters and great dialogue. Before this book, I'd never even heard of Robert Tanenbaum. Now he's going on my must read list.

It is an abridgement but doesn't seem to lose any important content. Very interesting and exciting. A fast moving mystery and thriller to boot. I'll look for more from this author.

Interesting story centered around a loving family who have ties to the underworld. Mom will seek Revenge for their friends and corruption in a small town with Big Secrets. Dad and the young college student daughter come to the rescue with their own unique skills.

Complex mystery full of characters you will end up caring about. A corrupt town, the FBI, a family looking for answers - all come together in a story that is compelling to the very end. A very good tale.
