I put my account on hold from 10/26/07 until 11/17/07 and left a number of books on instant wish list [doesn't need my approval]. Now for the problem. Someone ordered Rough Justice from me [while on hold]. When I did not respond the order was cancelled and of course the book lost it's place in fifo. Also books received that I couldn't respond to kept getting notes why didn't I respond. How does this work? Do I repost Rough Justice and have to go back to the bottom of the list? Someone please give me answers. Leyba

Here's what the Help Center says about books being ordered while your shelf is on hold: If you get a request by email while your Bookshelf is on hold, that means:

"Also books received that I couldn't respond to kept getting notes why didn't I respond." I''m not sure what you are asking with this question. If you mean, that you have received books while your account was on hold, and you did not mark them received, and therefore got notes asking why you did not receive them, then I can answer that. If not, please restate it so that I understand what you need? The notificatiion for books received is not dependant upon your shelf being on hold, that only looks at the date ordered, and only knows that it needs to be marked within 26 days. Just because you put your shelf on hold, does not stop the books you have ordered from coming to you and needing to be marked received. Those books still have their 26 day time limit and need to be marked within that 26 days or they will be marked as lost. That cannot be stopped. The only way for a person to avoid having books come in that they cannot mark received during a shelf hold, would be to make sure there are no books listed under the Enroute To Me tab. |

When I was on vacation for a month, I just went ahead and marked my books received even though I was was not at home to make sure it did. I thought that was only far for the person who sent it. |

I checked the books in that had arrived and PMed a note explaining what took so long. I understand what happened there and since I have so many biooks on automatic yes on the wish list it could happen again. It was the missed order I am really questioning. Leyba

All I can tell you is what the help center says above, that the book was already involved (had been ordered and was being passed to the next requestor) before you put your account on hold, and was then visible to be ordered because it was passed after the hold went into effect. It could have been in the 1-hour holding period even and then been declined and passed on. System glitches are always possible, but unless there was a hiccup in the system, your book was already involved in a request before you put your account on hold, and that is why it was able to be requested after the hold. |

Did you post the book after you put your account on hold? |

Posting books after you put your account on hold no longer makes the books available - they are held just like the rest of your shelf is. This was changed a while ago. From the Help Center: Books newly Posted to your Bookshelf during a Hold will be hidden from requests. |
