So, I mailed out a WL book (first class) a week before I left for vacation and was surprised that it had not been received when I returned. I looked at the member who ordered and his account has been closed/suspended. I am assuming the book will not be marked received and I will not receive my credit? I'm not going to get too upset about this but I hope karma comes around and bites this guy in the *ss :-) |

Well I think, note think, PBS will mark the book received and you'll get your credit. It seems I've seen something about that in the threads. I tried finding it in the Help Docs and naturally couldn't. It seems like when I want to find one thing I find 10 others but not what I'm looking for. There's others that know much more about this than me and I'm sure they'll jump in and fix the answer in my head. Of course you could always Ask the Librarian - the last thing I think of. :) |

It should be marked received instead of going lost. PBS took the credit from the requestor when they requested the book and it's basically in an escrow account. From the help docs:

Thanks for the responses. Do I need to do anything or will the PBS system figure it out? I have no idea when the account was closed/suspended. |

"Closed/suspended" accounts are often in that state temporarily. If the member is able to get his account reopened, he'll be able to mark your book received when he gets back. Books can also be marked received automatically on the system action date or just before, but I don't think the criteria for figuring out whether an account is abandoned or not are 100% reliable (which makes sense, because it's awfully hard for computers to predict human behavior). If the system decides to mark your book lost, and you see the account is closed, you should use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the screen to inquire about it. |

I agree - - If you mailed a book to account that is closed or suspended PBS will automatically mark the book received. Has it been past the time that it is due to go lost? I am not sure but it may be when the book goes lost - the account is checked and if it is closed or suspended you receive your credit. I would wait a couple of days past the go lost date and if you don't see the credit contact PBS. just me! |

Thanks everyone. I mailed in 8/3 (first class) and the go lost date is 8/31 so I will just give it more time and follow up as suggested.

Valerie is right. I've had this happen to me twice so far, most recently was this week. Both times PBS marked it received automatically for me as the receiving person could not do so. It's a nice feature. |
