Excerpt: ANNO QTJINQTJAGESIMO SEPTIMO GEORGII III. Regis. Cap. xxix. An Act for better paving, improving, and regulating the Streets of the Metropolis, and removing and preventing Nuifances and Objlrufiions therein. June 1817.3 WHEREAS many of the Streets and public Places within that Part of the Metropolis which is fituate within the Weekly Bills of Mortality, and the Paddies of Saint Pancras and Saint Mary-le-bone, in the County of Middle/ex, are divided into parochial and other Diftricts, and are paved and repaired and regulated, and Obftructions and Nuifances therein are removed, under the Direction of certain Com- miffioners or Truftees, or other Perfons appointed to fuperintend and regulate the fame in each of fuch parochial or other Diftricts, by virtue of certain local Acts of Parliament ; and the Pavements of many of fuch Streets and public Places are often in a State dangerous to Paffengers, and frequently contain Nuifances and Obftructions which are offenfive ' or injurious : And whereas it would materially tend to the remedying of fuch Defects in the Pavements, and fuch Nuifances, if more fummary Means of compelling the fpeedy Reparation of the Pavements of fuch Streets and public Places, and of enforcing due Regulations as Aft to extend to all Streets within the Metropolis, and the Bills of Mortality, and Pancras and Mary-le- bone.
