Oh boy, is there ever a BIG WHOOP going on down here in southwest Ohio about the 'meaning' of the destruction of the quarter-million dollar 62-foot, 8-ton statue of fiberglass, Styrofoam, and steel Jesus, arms uplifted to the sky, that was erected in 2004 at the Solid Rock Church on the east side of I-75 between Dayton and Cincinnati,. The "Touchdown Jesus" statue was struck by lightning Monday night and burned to the ground in minutes. The "After" photo shows the naked steel framework that supported the thing. Ever since, Everybody and his brother has been ringing in with something to say about it . . . Last Edited on: 12/30/11 5:30 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

As far as I'm concerned, the message here is don't build large structures out of two huge lightning rods surrounded by highly flammable styrofoam and expect it to last forever lol |

I actually got a chuckle out of it. A statue of Jesus is hit by lightening - you can't make up this stuff. |
