I posted a book (wish-listed) and PMed the member about writing on the inside, offering to cancel if she was not happy with the markings. (Inscription by the author, and some numbering in the margins...) I have not heard from the member, my mail-by date is really close, and, like all of us, I am hoping to avoid the dreaded RWAP. The book was auto-requested, the member's shelf has all books posted on the same date last fall, and there are three books on the WL, also posted very close to that time. Should I send, even without hearing from her, or cancel and repost in the bazaar, or .....? What would you do? Thanks for any advice....Jackie Last Edited on: 4/13/11 12:48 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

If there is writing on text pages, you need the member's permission to send the book. If she doesn't respond, you'd have to cancel. If all the writing is like the author's inscription and is on non-text pages, you could send without the receiver's permission.

I'd definitely cancel if I didn't get a response, and either list in the the bazaar or hold onto it and periodically check her wishlist, reposting it when it's gone from her wishlist. The inscription from the author wouldn't make it unpostable but the numbering in the margins would, unless it's posted under the textbook rule and then you need to have an Ok before mailing. |

You will need to cancel without a response. You can repost it again and wait to see if she responds or offer it in the Book Bazaar or siggy line. Sending it without acceptable of the margin writing is definite breaking of the posting guidelines, because you have not followed to textbook exception if you don't have approval to send it, and you risk a RWAP. |
