This book and the one Ms. Gallmann wrote a few years before it, I Dreamed of Africa, are among the most haunting ones I've ever read, not because Gallmann writes "great literature," but because of her great heart, her courage, her love, and because of what it tells us about Africa.

It contains many photographs, some in color and others in black and white, and there is a useful Glossary of African words.
