It seems I'm doing things in the wrong order.

Generally when I finish a book, I go to my TBR list to rate it with stars which will move it automatically to my BIR list. But I can add tags before it moves over to BIR, then occasionally I write a review. The last thing I usually do is POST it for swapping, but I've discovered if I do those other steps first the "post this book" choice disappears. You can't go to the BIR and post from there, the 'post' button isn't there.

So should I be clicking on " post " first, before I ever rate, tag, or review the book?

If it makes it easier for you.

I don't have a certain order to do things, and I usually do everything from the book listing page anyway, not from my own lists. Everything is always accessible from the book listing page.

You don't have to use any of those lists.  I usually take the arrow out of the TBR box when I receive the book.  I don't put any books in that area although, I do have some books that got there somehow..  If I wish to relist a book I just enter the book ISBN in the book search box and then hit the "Post It" box.   There are lots of ways to post books.

I usually post the book from my TBR, and then when I get to the step where it asks me if that's really my ISBN/edition, I have the opportunity to rate the book as well.

I post from the TBR as well. I don't generally rate the books until they are on the page to mail.

I always type in the ISBN and post that way. Then I don't have to worry about forgetting to verify the ISBN and posting a problem book.

It's easier for me to let the system put all my in-comming books onto my bookshelf "On Hold" When I want to re-post all I have to do is remove the hold. It's a huge help remembering what's been swapped and what hasn't. Of course that doesn't work for game books, but it's still very useful. Twice I thought I had already posted wish listed books but they were lost in my house and might not have been found till the next ice age except they were still holding on my bookshelf, so I knew they had to be somewhere.

I click on my scroll so the book opens in a new tab. I can post it from one tab and make notes, do stars etc in others.
