It has been a while since I have disliked a book this much.

I really wanted to like this book. In fact I ordered the second book in the series with the anticipation of enjoying this first one. But the fact is I hated it. I could not get into it at all. I never got attached to the characters and the storyline never jived with me.

First of all, Sarah was beyond cruel to Jackson in High School. She ripped out his heart and stomped on it publicly and made sure he was completely humiliated in the process. She was evil. Jackson still harbors, and rightly so, a lot of resentment towards Sarah. Yet the author expects to me to believe that he puts that all behind him and forgives her fully after a very poor apology. I didnt buy it.

There really wasnt any chemistry between Jackson and Sarah, yet Jackson walked around with an erection 99.9% of the time. If I had a dollar for every time the author spoke of Jacksons erection I would be taking my family out to a very nice dinner tonight.

My storyline problems stemmed from the fact that I felt like everything was too far fetched. I cant really get into details without offering spoilers, but there was stealing evidence from a crime scene and a police helicopter that was deployed on command from a civilian within a 20 minute period of time. Oh, and lets not forget the FBI forcing Sarah to investigate a criminal matter. I realize this is a fiction book, but come on. There was also a side storyline involving loggers that really served zero purpose, except to maybe voice the authors opinion on commercial loggers? I dont know.

I am really bummed I have the second book, because I really dont want to read it. But being full of quirks which include finishing books I cant tolerate and reading books just because they have been purchased and are already on my shelf, I will. I am hoping that the author stepped things up for the second book, because this one was a dismal failure.

I enjoyed this book in the beginning but then it just got really slow, and I kept felling like we were going in a circle about her late husbands drama and her life being in danger over and over again. Was a good read little bit slow and somewhat boring. The men wasn't all that hot either.

I was kind of disappointed with this book. I am a big fan of Kat Martin's previous books, but for some reason this one was not up to standards. It was kind of boring, to be truthful, and normally I could not put down her books when I start, but I could easily put this one down. There weren't much action or suspense that really makes you keep reading. The only 'major' happening was the kidnapping of the child towards the end, and the rescue felt 'rushed'.

Very predictable but still a good read. A lot of twists & turns but enjoyed it.

Liked this one. I love the fact they didn't keep rehashing Sarah's stupidity from the past. Mostly it is a whodunit mystery with lots of sex thrown in. It was fun and yes very far-fetched.

I enjoyed this book very much. I loved the love story between Jackson and Sarah. Sometimes a tender love story is the best, especially if it is small town and they knew each other before. Bad boy loves beautiful unattainable girl and stuff happens. Years later they encounter each other again and fall in love, while trouble mounts around them.

Really enjoyed this book, romance, intrigue and a real man to go the distance with. Could not put the book down and best of all, a book about his brothers coming out in February and one in March.
