Very well-written story, with a different premise that made it interesting from the first page. Full of subtle humor and well-rounded characters, it was a delight to read. I especially appreciate that Laura Matthews does not modernize the character's actions or dialogue. Very few contractions found throughout their speech. Bravo! I sure wish more authors would do the same and stop dumbing-down the dialogue for readers. (Yes, that's a huge pet-peeve of mine.)

If you are a fan of real Regencies, Laura Matthews will be a delightful surprise. This is the third book of hers that I've read, and each one has been keeper.
