I have become more interested in the very early history of England and so found this book in my public library. Justin Pollard presents a wealth of information from this king's reign that has been gleaned from original sources. This book is very easy to read and follow as it is written in chronological order to tell the story of Alfred the Great and his accomplishments and reign. It is the best book about this era (800a.d. to 900a.d.) that I have found to date.
