Hitchcock is in the middle of filming his latest film, Vertigo, when he receives a macabre present, the severed ear of a woman. Joining forces with ex-LAPD detective Chess Slattery, Hitch follows a trail that takes the pair from the mansions of Bel Air to the degraded haunts of Hollywood wannabes and the shabby bungalows of Venice in 1957.

This was a really good read.
