Hi All,

This is only the 2nd time in all the years that I've been with PBS that I am bringing up a book for special consideration.  It's called Alice Rose and Sam and I have it on my posted bookshelf.  The Sam in the title is Samuel Clemens aka Mark Twain.  The book is fictional but could well have happened.  It's very well written.

The premise of the story takes place before Sam became a famous writer.  He meets up with "a newpaperman's daughter and together they uncover a plot to seize the mighty Comstock Lode for the Confederacy in this open-throttled page-turner."  It is definitely fast paced and thought provoking.
