Hi,

I need some help in finding some good allergy books.
It should cover environmental allergies, food allergies and chemcial allergies and how to desenstize oneself to them.
Also any books (or even magazine articles) that show studies on chronic fatigue syndrom being linked to allergies.

This is for a patron who has allergy issues and asked me to find her some books on how to cope.
So far she has read Overcoming Allergies and several books on food allergies but hers are also related to mold, dust and other stuff in the air.

So if you could recommend some titles that have helped you or know of a place that lists them that would be great.. I prefer them to be backed up by some type of science.

I have MCS and servere allergies.  A lovely side effect of Endometrosis.  The book I recommend first is The Rebellious Body.

It is a good starting place.  It does not assume that there is one cause or type.  It does not assume that there is one treatment or cure.  From there I'd go on to other books.   Yes, it is 10 years old.  But the combo of both mainstream and alternative treatments and anecdotes makes it both reassuring and informative.  And a good chuck of the difficulty with MCS/EI is the isolation that comes with avoiding things like pesticides and perfume.

ETA  Bonnye Matthews's book has been updated and reissued.  Also recommend it.

You might want to check out the book THE BODY KNOWS (ISBN 9781561708420).  The author at one time worked as an physician's assistant and allergu-testing technician.  Before that she discovered that many of her own strange symptoms were the result of 'hidden" allergies.

The book is loaded with useful information.  From what I read there, I discovered that many times the fatigue that I suffered from came from the food that I ate for breakfast; more specifically, I found that my body didn't like the milk I was putting on my cereal.  I didn't get gas or bloating or a runny nose, I just got really tired.  Wow, I thought this is strange.  I thought people who had milk allergies had stronger reactions than that.  So I no longer have milk with my cereal (and I don't drink it either).
