A harsh and savage land. Amanda White's gentle upbringing in the civilized East had left her totally unprepared for the hardships that awaited her as a teacher of Indian children in Wyoming Territory. Calling upon reserves of strength she had not known she possessed, she began a bitter struggle for survival in the harsh new land. Though violence and tragedy threatened to overcome her, Amanda knew she must somehow find the courage to continue in the life she had chosen, even if the man she loved abandoned her!
