The Amazing Mrs. Pollifax (Mrs Pollifax, Bk 2)
The Amazing Mrs Pollifax - Mrs Pollifax, Bk 2 Author:Dorothy Gilman When Emily Pollifax answers the phone that Sunday morning, she quickly forgets all about her Garden Club tea that afternoon. For the voice on the other end belonged to a man she had never seen, a man from the CIA who asked her if she could leave immediately on a mission that would take her halfway across the world! What could Mrs. Pollifax say b... more »ut yes?« less
This series is excellent and surprising. An unusual book because it is about a CIA operative who is well past the age you would normally expect to find. This is because Mrs. Pollifax didn't start until after her kids were raised with kids of their own and she was a widow finding life dull and boring. Her life is anything but now as she circles the globe finding adventure and risk wherever she goes. This is the second book in the series.
This book was recommened to me by another PBS member. I requested it and was plesantly surprised at how good it was. Mrs. Pollifax is a widowed, middle-aged women who got tied of gardening and afternoon teas and decides to apply to the CIA. Thus begins her daring and at times dangerous adventures. I loved it and quickly ordered her first book which I am patiently awaiting to receive. I'm sure whoever orders this book will not be disappointed. Slow to start but certainly picks up speed to its breath-taking ending.
The book is old and slightly worn but in very good condition.

Dorothy Gilman is a nice, easy read. Mrs. Polifax is always into something! I first read these books when I was in my 30's and now I'm in my 60's. I can relate to Mrs. Polifax now. We all want a little adventure in our lives.
Another great Mrs Pollofax adventure. This time she is headed to Turkey to pass a defecting spy money and a passport . . . but of course things don't go as planned and its Mrs Pollifax's charm and wit that save the day. The traditionally good guys and the bad guys just aren't who they seem.
